Simon Shepard has been described as a nuisance. A Chartered Physiotherapist by profession, he has been in charge of medical and support services at Lord’s Cricket Ground for over 25 years.
He has seen dramatic change in the support that sports people are given and over the past decade he has used this experience to deliver services to corporate organisations that want to build on The Human and Humane Side of Performance. He uses technology to understand people with objectivity and blends data with coaching to bring the concept of Key Human Performance Indicators (KHPIs) to life.
He has lived in St Albans since 2006, has two children who have fled the nest, is a stalwart of The Garden Fields Dads cricket team and referees for The Hertfordshire Society of Rugby Referees.
Living Life Better means to me: Balance, Authenticity, Success
Dr Richard Pile was raised a proud, slightly damp, mancunian. He then trained in Nottingham and Oxfordshire before becoming a GP partner in St Albans. He has a diploma in cardiology and believes that everyone can and should practise Lifestyle Medicine, whether young or old, doctor or patient.
Richard has seen a lot of changes in over twenty years working for the NHS. He is fascinated by what it means to truly feel well and is passionate about helping people to achieve this as individuals and as a community. He believes too much medicine can be harmful for us and we all need the right dose of sleep, movement, food, relaxation, connections and purpose in life.
Richard lives in St Albans and is married with four children and a very large dog. He enjoys cycling, running, archery, gaming, following the fortunes of Manchester United…and finding an excuse to combine any or all of these activities whilst socialising with friends and family, preferably in his local pub.
Living Life Better means to me: Feeling well, Connecting with others, Making a difference
Dr Steven Laitner grew up in Sheffield. He then moved to London to study medicine at the Royal Free Hospital before moving only very slightly back up north to St Albans in 1992 where he has stayed put! He continued his medical journey through hospital medicine, public health and general practice.
Steven is a GP in a large practice in St Albans where he has worked for over 20 years. He was previously the National Clinical Lead for Shared Decision Making in England, trying to ensure patients are always fully involved in their care and decisions about their care, something he continues to be passionate about. He now supports a range of healthcare organisations in England and other countries on redesigning healthcare services to better meet the needs of their communities and individuals.
Steven lives with his wife, three teenage daughters and a dog, so understands all too well the complexities and challenges of everyday life! He enjoys running and cycling, traveling and going to the Odyssey Cinema.
Living Life Better means to me: Feeling fit, staying connected and being in control of all aspects of life
